About Us
Lena Wright
Lena is currently the manager of a data analysis team at Heliolytics, a small solar-tech company based in Toronto, Canada. However, despite working in the renewable energy sector, she has a passion for educational technology. As a forever-lifelong student, she loves learning new skills and exploring new topics, whether that be through school, articles, documentaries, YouTube videos, or even friends! At her core, Lena is a researcher, with a special interest in critical theory, technology, and media.
Her focus for this project was on emerging markets and looking toward the future of data visualization.
Emma Markoff
Emma works within the mental healthcare sector, specifically within research, focusing on research ethics and research coordination. While Emma does not have an educational background, nor will pursue education in the future, she has found that educational technology complements the hospital’s microcredential suite development – combining technology and education. Working in research, however, has allowed for great use of data visualization to mobilize research findings to practical uses.
Within this OER, Emma’s responsibility falls on providing the introduction to data visualization: what is data visualization? How do we use it, or how are we impacted by it every day?
Terrence Dai
Terrence, a co-founder of a technology company, has a primary focus on creating and advancing products that foster STEM education, specifically in applied science and engineering. While Terrence does not have a teaching background, he considers himself an educator with an emphasis on the engineering aspect.
Within the designed website, Terrence's primary responsibility lies in the educational application of data visualization. He designs activities that facilitate the visualization of data, enabling peers to engage with it and gain a better understanding of how data visualization can be utilized in an educational context.
